The Village Chaplaincy Program has been a very important part of Brevillier Village for many years. Various clergy of the Episcopal Diocese and the Lutheran Synod have served as Chaplain since 1977.
Chaplain services include worship services, visits, anointing, and praying with residents, bereavement support for families and staff, Bible studies, and one on one visits with residents.
Reverend Mary Lord, a deacon at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lawrence Park serves as the Brevillier Chaplain. Deacon Mary conducts weekly prayer and communion services, Bible Study/Prayer Groups, is in communication with resident churches, and is a source of support for residents, families, and employees.
The religious opportunities and spiritual gifts offered at the Village also include Sunday Catholic Mass with Monsignor Gerald Orbanek and Deacon Chuck Adamczyk, along with volunteers from Our Lady of Mercy. This is a special gift and one which many residents participate in each Sunday. Reverend Shawn Clerkin of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church celebrates Holy Eucharist the first Sunday of the month in the Chapel. Wesley United Methodist Church also brings its members a music filled service.
There is also a variety of other clergy in the Village at various times ministering to their specific congregation members. We encourage all clergy to visit and use the Chapel if they so wish to have services or meetings.
St. Barnabas Chapel
On Sunday, September 28, 2008, Bishop Sean Rowe of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest PA along with the Very Reverend John Downey held a consecration and dedication ceremony for the the St. Barnabas Chapel. Our chapel on the Brevillier campus embraces the true goal of serving an active community of prayer and worship and becomes the physical presence for spiritual services at Brevillier Village. We have been blessed by this beautiful space which is open daily for church services, reflection time, weddings, and funerals. The St. Barnabas Chapel is a non-denominational chapel.
Across the foyer from the Chapel is the Education Center for the celebration of life events such as resident birthdays, anniversaries, or sharing holidays with family members. It is also used for education programs for our staff.
Please encourage your minister/priest/rabbi to come and celebrate a service. Are you interested in reserving the Chapel for your service, wedding, baptism, funeral, or religious program? Contact Tracy Longnecker at email@example.com
